Would it be any less odd that after meeting Robert Scoble, the image I always associate with his name is him sitting on the floor in one of the panels at Northern Voice, typing away with his legs crossed and his shoes off. All I see now is Robert Scoble=socks. It's funny.

Pete, I think it's the prominent picture placement on their sites. Throw a pic up on PC4Media and who knows, maybe you'll be in my next dream Web 2.0 conversation. (A scary thought, huh?)
Arienna, so is that a Freudian thing? When you see socks in your dream your actually thinking of Scoble? In a dream, at the end of the day when you take your socks off, are you actually discarding Scoble?

Well, they are sort of link bloggers..No philosophy and no vision for future at all.
if you really dream it, you can do it now.
just spent at least 5 hours a day, subscribing hundreds of news sources and bloggs in your news reader. then, make links and add brief comments. That's it.
how about Larry Lessig....? He is a really somthing.

Hey Gator, I don't think I agree completely. I think both Steve and Robert are helping to show that companies can speak to customers with a real voice. I agree with you, I could do it too, but that's the wonder of it. It's easy. They're just people in business who are not afraid to speak to people like people. But that's what makes them so approachable and I believe approachability is their long term vision. I feel as though I could email either of them and ask them a question about their companies and get honest responses. That requires vision, without question.

I don't think I go that deep into the sock thing. It's just a funny image. But nice insight!
