Thanks a lot, Noah! Now I have a whole new level of distraction -- and I'm on a really tight deadline!!!! But of course, I couldn't resist, so I did a blog search for school reform and found some pretty cool stuff. One, interestingly, led me back to a link I'd just found yesterday on http://www.eideneurolearningblog.blogspot.com/ to
http://www.connectivism.ca/blog/32. You've got to read this piece on Designing ecosystems versus designing learning -- it's so up your/my alley!
Then I found this awesome lady: Anne Davis, who had the most amazing post called: Out of the Blogs of Kids
http://anne.teachesme.com/2005/08/15#a3827
Oh my, it reminded me of my efforts when you were in middle school and of how much better off we'd be in education IF WE'D JUST LISTEN TO THE KIDS!!!!!
I know the name Anne Davis is not uncommon, but back then (mid-90's), when I was working on the self-assessment project at Ponus, I went to a workshop by someone named Anne Davis, who was doing some pretty amazing things with elementary school children and performance assessment. I think she was Canadian ... wouldn't it be amazing if it was the same person! She now seems to be devoted to bringing blogs into schools. Either way, she deserves kudos for her efforts and her blog.
So, to get back to YOUR post. I guess this is it. Blogs hit the big time. If they can be searched on Google, it's just a matter of time 'til they're mainstream.
It all goes so fast ... and here I am working on Principal Leadership training and mentoring ... and we can't get most of them to go online. No wonder education is 100 years behind the times!
Oh well, back to work -- just wanted to let you know you distracted and inspired me -- again.
