Design
- The Telegraph has an interview/profile of Jonathan Ive the Apple designer behind the iPod, iMac, etc. It's decent, but if you'd like something a little more in-depth, check out this interview from 2003.
- Want to make design a more important part of your business but can't get your bosses to buy in on the idea? BusinessWeek offers some tips on getting bosses to buy off on the benefits of a more design-centric approach.
- From Adaptive Path: "Is Your Homepage Immature? looks specifically at getting the most out of your homepage design.
- MisprintedType is the very nice portfolio site of Brazilian designer Eduardo Recife.
- And, if you missed it, a post of mine about Elegance in Design that includes some very interesting quotes (not mine).
Unbundled Media
If you missed the post originally, I'm planning on writing a magazine article about the shift to unbundled media. With that in mind, I've been collecting some links which I think are interesting in their own right, but especially as it relates to that.
- Terry Heaton writes about why we need to stop trying to create "blockbusters", in the entry he links to . . .
- A fascinating article about the snowball effect which basically says that as aggregation continues to increase, if your product is quality it will become more exponentially popular in niches. (It's basically a long tail idea.)
- Attaching ads directly to content become far more important in an unbundled world. That theory will become quite apparent in pre-roll video.
Other
This defies categorization, but is well worth a read.
- Was God really an intelligent designer? The New Yorker imagines what the conversation might have sounded like.
