Quick Bites
A bunch of quick thoughts since I don't have the brainpower to go any further at the moment.
Okay, get ready for a foray into randomness. I've been busting my ass trying to get this presentation done along with about a million other things. Thinks it's finally there (if anyone wants to see a copy and give feedback, drop a line . . . not quite sure I'm ready to distribute it widely yet). Anyhow, in lieu of a more coherent entry, here are lots of thinking points:
- I've still been thinking about 'thoughtless tools' non-stop. I think it's part of how to scale a business. How do you create business applications that make people smarter without making them do any more work?
- Along the same lines, I really like feedback loops and need to constantly remind myself to a) build them into things or b) look for and understand them when they are.
- As part of the soon-to-be-released Naked blog, I've been playing a bit with Twitter. I quite like what Russell wrote about the service.
- Speaking of Twitter, this whole post is kind of like Twittering.
- Further speaking of Twitter, I just finally got around to reading Kathy Sierra's excellent: Face-to-Face Trumps Twitter, Blogs, Podcasts, Video . . .
- It seems there's a bit of Google backlash going on.
- At least partly in response to my Code of Conduct article and an email conversation we had, Amelia wrote a very interesting piece on whether there's a gender divide on the blogging code of conduct stuff. What does everyone here think?
- Not to harp on it more, but Anil Dash's thoughts on the topic are quite eloquent as well.
- It's much easier to be insightful in tiny little nuggets.
- And last but not least: Tips for winning at rock-paper-scissors.
Well I think that's it. Am off to Montana this Friday to Sunday, only to return and go to San Francisco next week (pending ticket purchase). Looks like it'll be a slightly nuts seven days. If you're in either Missoula or San Francisco (I somehow imagine I have a larger audience in the latter . . . though who am I to say), drop me a line and we'll try and meet up.
Good luck with all the talks. Would be good to hear about it, will you be Twittering it?
If you want to be Twitter buddies, I am NylonMeals. What is your Twitter tag?
