Hong Kong?
Hey everyone, so I’m going to be in Hong Kong for a few days starting next week and I’m looking for recommendations of good things to do and good people to see. If you wouldn’t mind leaving tips in the comments or dropping me a line I would be super appreciative.
Thanks. :)

Hi, I'm
Take the train up to Victoria Peak. It’s touristy, but totally worth it.
Hi Noah,
I have not been for 20 years, but when there I loved to go on the ferry to Lantau and the other outer islands and hike in the emptyness…
Steve
Noah! great to hear you’re coming to China. Today was a bit hectic around tiananmen for the 20th anniv. a lot of news sources (twitter) where blocked through out the day but I heard Hong Kong’s protests were not to be missed. I’ll throw together a next stop for you tomorrow of some things to not be missed in HK… although you should hop the next plane to the mainland.
Hi Noah,
I have been doing business in HK for 25 years and it I always look forward to my next trip.
The hardest part of your trip will be leaving after 3 days. You can spend years there and discover something new every day. Here is a link that you should study for a few hours to get a feel of HK. http://www.discoverhongkong.com/eng/local-tours/tour-guide.html
Yes, you should take the tram to The Peak, great view you will always remember. Then walk around in Kowloon. Start at Star Ferry and walk up Nathan Rd. Spend a day walking in Kowloon and some time in HK Central. Visit Hollywood Rd. Walk the streets and and get a the feel of a place that is growing like America did in the late 40′s.
After a few days you will get the feeling of a place where anything is possible. Everyone is enthusiastic about their business and the future of their country.
Don’t go to meetings, go to malls, stalls, walk around, interact with the city and the people. You will never forget your first visit and you will look forward to your next trip which will hopefully be longer.
Regards,
Burt
The peak tram is awesome. Sounds lame, but you can grab a beer at Bubba Gump’s Shrimp at the top of the peak mall. The bar overlooks the whole island, amazing view. then take a cab down the crazy twisty roads to soho. Lots of great bars and restaurants.
The star ferry is really great too, highly recommend the ride over to Kowloon.
Visit the Lock Cha tea house in Hong Kong Park. I stumbled on this place while in a jetlag stupor. The tea and music were great, but the best part was talking to the owner, Mr. Ip.

The latest issue of Wallpaper is titled ‘Made in China’ might have some tips. Here’s a link to their ‘insider guides’:

There’s a company called Soundwalk, the audio guide they did with LV is worth a quick peek, but I don’t think I’d have the patience to take the time to walk along with it all (I want to go on the Anthony Bourdain HK tour, but I need Bourdain for that!) http://www.soundwalk.com/#/TOURS/lv_hongkong/
Noah,
Have not been to Hong Kong in some years but I can remember the Peak Tram journey being excellent.
What I would most recommend to you – is a trip to a horse racing event in HK. Either Happy Valley or Sha Tin would suffice as the atmosphere is electric at either. The crowds are so besotted with horse racing that it is infectious.
