Microsoft targets Yahoo! with $44.6bn bid

Wow, that's a lot of money. Here's the letter to the Yahoo! board. Rumor is it followed a friendly merger attempt. (And for a piece of data that may only amaze me: Yahoo!'s stock has jumped to $30.70 in pre-trading (as of 7:41AM eastern) on the news that Microsoft will be purchasing at $31-per-share. Isn't economics grand?)
