Coffee + Free Books

This has been a pretty big week for me and I've got a bit more good news. This time about likemind. Those of you who are signed up for the list have already seen this, but this month we've got a pretty awesome sponsor: Rob Walker who is promoting his new book "Buying In: The Secret Dialogue Between What We Buy and Who We Are". As part of the promotion Random House will be paying for coffee in North America as well as giving away a bunch of copies of the book (all the North America locations will have copies while supplies last). I'm super excited because this is exactly the kind of promotion I'd wanted to do for likemind. The way I see it, everyone wins: likeminders get free coffee and an awesome book and Rob and Random House get to promote the book to its perfect audience.

As always, all you have to do is turn up. likemind is this Friday morning, all the details are at likemind.us.

Was really looking forward to the likemind Detroit book release event for "Buying In". Was at Cafe 1923 from 8am - 9am on Friday May 16.

"where: Cafe 1923, 2287 Holbrook St., Hamtramck, Michigan 48212
when: friday, may 16 at 8:30am (EST)
hosts: nev and eric"

Not sure what happened. It appears that this event was canceled without notification. Spoke with a few folks at the coffee shop [one was presumably the owner]. They had no idea that there was an event planned at their shop.

Great idea on doing a book release and conversation event. Too bad it fell through in Detroit.

I enjoyed the recent San Francisco likemind event - but there were no books nor gratis coffee to be had. That was quickly forgotten as I met some of the others there. It was worthwhile and I can't wait for the next one, but reading that other cities also didn't see books or a host seems odd. BTW Noah if you're seeing this while you're on vacation - tsk tsk, shut the computer, stand back, close your eyes and say, with all the drama and fervor of Flash Gordon ' ready, set, Vacationize!!

This is long overdue on my part. Want to thank Noah for his quick and effective efforts in resolving issues encountered last month.

Looking forward to the next likemind event later this week.

Best,
